If you're new to using HarmonySite, you might feel a little overwhelmed with all the different areas of the system – it is quite complex! To guide you through the process of getting things set up, we've included a Checklist with your site. This lists the main things to take care of, as well as providing quick links to the pages you'll need.

First of all: how to find it? At the top of your Admin dashboard, you should see a message saying "... of 26 setup steps have been completed", like this:

You can click the View details link to go to your checklist.

(You can also find a link to the checklist on the page called "GETTING STARTED - READ ME FIRST!", in the "What to Do Next" section.)

Every group and every site is different, so you may find that some of the steps aren't relevant for your group; equally, the checklist isn't exhaustive. It's simply a summary of the main points you should consider.

An item on the checklist might look like this:

On the right, there are links to relevant help guides (marked with the question mark symbol). You can click these if you'd like more information about this topic.

If you click the green "plus" icon on the left-hand side, you'll see some "Actions" you can do:

You can click these to quickly go to relevant pages in your HarmonySite.

If you see a link which says "Mark as completed": this simply adds a green tick and "Completed" to the right-hand side, so you can keep track of what you've done.

It's a good idea to keep an eye on the checklist as you set up your site! This will help you to keep track of important tasks to do.

The Webmaster position

One point is especially worth emphasising: in the second section, under "Final Checks before Making HarmonySite Live", you'll see some information about creating the Webmaster position. It's important you remember to do this – in particular, the Webmaster position is necessary for mailing lists to work. (Mailing lists need a moderator, e.g. to accept or reject emails to the list. This is fulfilled by the Webmaster position.)

Note that this is about the Webmaster position. This isn't the same as someone having Webmaster access to the site (that is, full admin control over the whole site). The Webmaster position is set on the Officers page, while Webmaster access is controlled by someone's login record (together with their username and password).
